The program for the DRM Strategies conference, July 27-28 in New York City,
has been finalized and posted on
www.drmstrategies.com.
Day One of the conference will feature a keynote address by Bill Krepick, CEO
of Macrovision, followed by a keynote debate on the relationship between DRM and
P2P. The rest of the day will feature plenary sessions that should be of
interest to those in the DRM for media and Enterprise DRM fields, including
mobile devices, DRM and content management, DRM interoperability, and emerging
business models for DRM.
Day One will also feature a 2-1/2 hour overview and tutorial on DRM, given by
Bill Rosenblatt, conference chair of DRM Strategies, editor of DRM Watch, and
president of GiantSteps Media Technology Strategies. The tutorial will
serve both as an introduction ro DRM and as a solid basis for getting the most
out of the rest of the conference.
Day Two of DRM Strategies will be split up into two tracks: one for DRM for
Media, the other for Enterprise DRM. Both tracks will feature Analyst
Insight presentations by Jupiter Research analysts covering DRM and related
fields. The Media track will kick off with a keynote by Bill Pence, SVP
and CTO of Napster. It will also contain panels on DRM and home
entertainment networks, and on DRM and E-Publishing. There will be
presentations of two independent research studies on consumer acceptance of DRM,
and a high-level discussion on the Supreme Court's decision in the Grokster
case, which will have come down by the end of July.
The Enterprise Rights Management track on Day Two will feature panels on ERM
and IT security architectures, ERM case studies, financial services applications
for ERM, and the software "ecosystem" building around Microsoft's Rights
Management Services.
Those interested in speaking or moderating at DRM Strategies should send
proposals to the conference chair at
brosenblatt@jupitermedia.com.
Proposals should include: name and title of speaker, name of panel(s) proposed,
description of what the speaker could contribute to the panel(s) as speaker or
moderator, plus the speaker's bio and full contact info. Proposal deadline
is Friday, April 1, 2005. Ground rules for speaker selections: DRM users get preference over vendors; vendor sales pitches are strictly forbidden; and we require
personal confirmation from the actual speakers before we will put them on the program.
